Faith & community

I'm a Christian.
And I'm open about it.

For a long time I kept my faith fairly quiet on here. I don't want to any more, because it's a big part of why I do this work and how I do it.
You don't need to share my faith to work with me. Where it's appropriate, and where you'd welcome it, I'm glad to bring it in.

Where I stand

What my faith means for the way I work.

My faith in God shapes how I live, how I treat people and the responsibility I feel towards anyone who trusts me with their story. I believe in grace. I believe in forgiveness. I believe nobody should be written off because of the worst thing that's happened to them, or the habits they've struggled to change.

I also believe in personal responsibility. Grace isn't the same as pretending nothing needs to change. A lot of my work is helping people take honest ownership of what they can change, without drowning in shame about what they can't.

And it keeps me humble. I don't have every answer and I won't pretend to. What I can promise is that I'll take your situation seriously and tell you the truth with kindness.

In sessions

How faith fits into our sessions.

  1. 01

    Your choice, always

Faith only comes into our sessions if you'd like it to. Where it's appropriate and welcome, prayer, scripture and honest conversation about God can sit alongside the practical tools. Where it isn't, we leave it out.

  2. 02

    Wherever you are with God

Whether you've followed Christ for years, drifted away, are starting to ask questions, or simply don't share my beliefs, you'll get the same care, honesty and effort from me. I'm not here to debate religion or to persuade anyone.

  3. 03

    Faith alongside proper care

Faith is not a substitute for medical or mental health care. If you need your GP, specialist services or urgent help, I'll say so, and I'll encourage you to get it.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28–30 (KJV)

For Christian men

Built to Stand: 12 weeks for Christian men.

Waiting list open

Separate from my one-to-one work, Built to Stand is a 12-week course for Christian men who want to talk honestly about what they're carrying and do something practical about it, with faith at the centre.

And you don't have to wait for it. I go to Hope Baptist Church in Rossington, Doncaster, and you'd be welcome to join me on a Sunday.

Wherever you are with God, the first step is the same.

A free consultation. You tell me what's going on, and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.
